Replace missing or damaged teeth and enjoy a beautiful new smile!

Crowns: Crowns are tooth shaped caps that go on top of damaged or broken teeth to restore shape, strength, function, and aesthetics. Crowns last a very long time and you won’t even notice it’s in there!

Bridges: Bridges are used to fill the gap created by one or more teeth that are missing. A bridge is made up of two or more crowns which are on either side of the gap. Either dental implants or natural teeth can support bridges.

Dental crowns and dental bridges are dental prosthesis used to restore decayed, damaged, or missing teeth. Dental crowns, or caps, are cemented on the top of your natural tooth surface, while dental bridges are made up of both dental crowns and a pontic, or fake tooth. Bridges are placed by anchoring dental crowns on either side of the gap left by the missing tooth. These crowns are attached to a pontic that sits in the empty space. Dental crowns and dental bridges are both capable of restoring a tooth’s function and appearance.

Did You Know?

Dental crowns are usually hollow pieces of ceramic, however they can also be made from metal, porcelain-fused-to-metal, and zirconia. Depending on the type of crown and how much wear and tear it is exposed to, dental crowns have an average lifespan of about 5-15 years.

I would not say that I have been to a “dentist” until our visit at Glen Park Family Dentistry. They are located at... 633 Greenway Road SE, Glen Burnie, Maryland. My uncle got an exam and some cleaning done, and the doctor spent 30 minutes, yes, 30 minutes, patiently discussing with us, hearing our concerns, and educating us. Unfortunately, that’s the case for all my previous dental experience, you never see doctors for more than 5 minutes in general. We arrived while it’s still bright outside, and left when it’s dark. Doctor is not rushing. Technology here is amazing, I’ve never seen all pictures and X-rays of the teeth in such a giant screen. They even teach my uncle how to clean properly. And they even show the before and in progress photos, which is priceless. I forgot to mention, during the cleaning, my uncle is watching TV while on a massage chair. Highly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a Dentist, an actual Dentist.read more

I have had horrible experiences with every dentist in the past, and walking through the door had extreme anxiety about... the visit. Dr. Lin was AMAZING, talked me through every step of the process, and eased my anxiety so quickly. They even have a fancy camera that takes pictures so they can show you what THEY see instead of just telling you. dental experience by far! Highly recommend this office and Dr. Linread more

My experience was excellent. I am so nervous going to the dentist and my hygienist made me feel so comfortable for my... cleaning and was very patient and in tune with when I needed a minute or a break with my teeth. My doctor was very informative and nice to be with giving me just enough information but not so much as to overwhelm me. This is definitely becoming my permanent dentist office. Thank you Glen Park so much for a wonderful experience!read more

Dr. Lin has been nothing but kind and caring for patients. Visiting the office made me feel relaxed and welcomed by him... and his staff members. This office is newly designed and well built. Everyone in this office makes sure that patients are feeling comfortable at all time. The television on the ceiling is a PLUS because when the dental professional works on my teeth, I am able to watch a movie and relax without thinking about the procedure. Dr. Lin is very talented and extremely knowledgeable. He explains every procedure to his patients in depth and makes sure that we know what the process will be. He makes sure that patients never feel lost and confused. This is a great office with highly intelligent staff members. I would highly recommend this office for your next dental visit!!!!read more

I was referred to Glen Park Family Dentistry through my insurance. I came in for an exam due to a cavity that was... causing me some discomfort. Frequently Asked Questions:

Am I candidate for a dental crown or bridge?

You may be a candidate for a dental crown if you have a decayed or damaged tooth that is otherwise intact. You may also be a candidate for a dental crown if you are in need of, or have had, a root canal. You may be a candidate for a dental bridge if you have a missing tooth surrounded by intact teeth. To find out if you are a candidate for  a dental crown or bridge, schedule a consultation with one of our dentists at Glen Park Family Dentistry today!

What should I expect when having a dental crown or bridge placed at Glen Park Family Dentistry?

When having a dental crown or bridge placed at Glen Park Family Dentistry, you can first expect to have dental x-rays to evaluate the tooth receiving the crown, as well as the surrounding bone. If decay has reached the tooth’s pulp, then a root canal may be required before the dental crown can be placed.

To prepare your tooth for the placement of a dental crown, our dentists will first numb your tooth with a local anesthetic to keep you comfortable. Then, they will grind down the top and sides of your tooth to make room for the crown. If your tooth is severely decayed, parts of it may need to also be built up to support the crown. When receiving a dental bridge, both teeth on either side of the missing tooth will need to be prepared.

Once your tooth has been properly prepared, a dental impression will be taken and sent to a dental laboratory. The dental lab will custom fabricate your permanent crown or bridge. In the meantime, you will be fit with a temporary crown. When your dental crown or bridge arrives from the dental lab, you will return to Glen Park Family Dentistry so that our dentists can properly fit and cement your permanent dental crown or bridge.

What post-treatment care guidelines will I have to follow after having a crown or bridge placed?

After having a dental crown or bridge placed, you may experience a brief period of tooth sensitivity while your teeth adjust. You may also notice some gum soreness. Both the sensitivity and the soreness can be managed with over the counter pain medications and will dissipate within a few days.

To properly maintain your dental crown or bridge, you will simply need to continue practicing good oral habits. These consist of brushing twice a day for two minutes with fluoridated toothpaste, flossing once a day, and visiting Glen Park Family Dentistry once every six months for your dental checkup and professional teeth cleaning.
